Chris Hollo/2017 Grand Ole OpryWhen Chris Young arrived at the Grand Ole Opry Tuesday evening, he knew he’d be celebrating his latest #1, “Sober Saturday Night,” with his hero Vince Gill. He also suspected he’d be receiving the first platinum album of his career, for his debut, Neon.

But what Chris didn’t know was that Vince had something up his sleeve: an invitation to be the newest member of the Opry.

Even though the Murfreesboro, Tennessee native was marking a career high, his thoughts were still with the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Capitol NashvilleLuke Bryan will do his new single “Light It Up” on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry on Wednesday, September 13, during a show dedicated to Country Cares for St. Jude Kids.

Longtime St. Jude supporter Randy Owen also is on the bill, along with childhood cancer survivor Clare Bowen from CMT’s Nashville. A St. Jude patient will serve as the Opry’s guest announcer that night, with five dollars from every ticket sold going to help the Memphis hospital that works to end childhood cancer.

Though he’d previously indicated his next single was likely to come from his next studio album, the Georgia native is releasing one more song from his sixth record.
