Image Group LA/ABCThe country winners were happy to give back to their fans Sunday night at the American Music Awards.

Florida Georgia Line claimed two awards: favorite duo or group — country and favorite album — country. Backstage, they said they were happy to represent country music.

“The fans got our back,” they continued, noting how “faithful” their followers are.

Similarly, Carrie Underwood, who was named favorite female artist — country, said backstage, “To be able to get up and thank your fans in front of that audience….To be able to declare your love and say thanks on …read more

Photo Credit: Nash Icon RecordsWhen Hank Williams, Jr. and Eric Church start performing in the new video for “Are You Ready for the Country,” it looks like they’re in a barn with their band and backup singers. But by the time they get about halfway through the song, the barnyard scene starts disappearing, revealing they’re actually in a downtown parking garage.

Hank says that’s not the only surprise associated with this song. Earlier this year when he started performing it on the road, he was shocked to find audiences don’t seem to remember it was …read more

Dick Clark ProductionsCountry music will be well-represented at Sunday’s American Music Awards, with both Luke Bryan and Sam Hunt competing in the major all-genre categories.

Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line and Luke Bryan each have two nods, with Luke competing against the likes of One Direction, Maroon 5 and overall top nominee Taylor Swift, who has six total, for Artist of the Year. Luke will sing his new …read more

ABC/Image Group LAWhile Jason Aldean has been nominated and won quite a few trophies at the CMAs and ACMs, he says being in the running for an American Music Award is a different experience entirely, because it puts you in the room with entertainers from all different kinds of music.

“It’s a cool deal. You got that many artists from all different genres. I mean it’s the biggest artists in the world in one room, basically. I mean that and the Grammys is about the only time that that ever happens. So it’s a …read more

Jeremy Ryan/Black River EntertainmentIt’s been quite a year for newcomer Kelsea Ballerini. On the heels of her debut single, “Love Me Like You Mean It,” going number one, she was nominated for two CMA Awards. Even though she didn’t take home a trophy, it didn’t seem to faze her– because she’s an admitted awards show junkie.

“Yeah, I’m an awards show– like I love awards shows. And I would like DVR them and then watch them over and over again to see like acceptance speeches and who sits with who,” she confesses. “Yeah, I …read more

ABC/Image Group LAEven though Sam Hunt is the most-nominated country artist at Sunday’s American Music Awards, he doesn’t seem to take it too seriously. In fact, the Montevallo hitmaker, who’s up for three trophies, even waxes a little philosophical about it.

“You know, that’s the only thing about when they say the winners. You say there’s a winner, that implies there’s a loser, and I don’t know, I just don’t really think that anybody really loses in those categories,” he muses. “So many people are deserving and there are only so many awards. So I just …read more
