ABC/Image Group LA On Grammy night earlier this year, Neil Portnow, the head of the Recording Academy, sparked outrage when he told reporters that women need to “step up” to be better represented at the ceremony. Now the Recording Academy has formed a special task force to examine “barriers and biases affecting women and other underrepresented voices in the music industry.”

Cam and Nashville resident Sheryl Crow are among the musicians who’ve joined the task force, along with R&B singer Andra Day, rapper/actor Common, and super-producer Jimmy Jam. The rest of the panel is mostly made up of music …read more

The four-story, 27,000-square-foot complex is located between 3rd and 4th Avenue in downtown Nashville. In addition to its 250 dining seats, Jason’s new destination will have six bars, music on every floor, and the largest outdoor patio on Broadway in Music City. ABC/Image Group LA Long before Maren Morris‘s “My Church” became her breakthrough, top-ten, Grammy-winning hit, she debuted it at Music City’s revered Bluebird Cafe. Next week, she’ll recreate that moment for a new documentary about the famed Nashville hot spot — and you can be there too.

The Texas native will host a songwriters’ circle Thursday, May 17 at 6 p.m. CT at the cafe. Maren’s husband Ryan Hurd will join her, along with Jimmy Robbins and Laura Velz, who co-wrote her first solo #1, “I Could Use a Love Song.” Veltz also helped create Maren’s latest single, “Rich.”

Taylor StrategyAshley McBryde may be known for “A Little Dive Bar in Dahlonega,” but later this month, she’ll be doing her drinking a little closer to the source.

The Arkansas native will kick off the 2018 Porch Sessions concerts at Cascade Hollow Distilling Co. in Tullahoma, Tennessee on May 19. If you don’t immediately recognize the name of the venue, it also happens to be the distillery where George Dickel Tennessee Whisky is made.

Tickets for the 21-and-up shows are only $25. Chase Bryant is set to play on June 2, with more talent to be announced soon.
