Why Little Big Town’s “Happy People” may be “The Best (Country) Song of 2017 (So Far)”

ABC RadioEntertainment Weekly ranks Little Big Town‘s “Happy People” #2 on its list of “The Best Songs of 2017 (So Far).” The magazine praises the tune for its “heartwarming message of inclusivity that transcends party lines.” It happens to be the only country entry on the publication’s 10-song tally.

MarVistaNext Tuesday, you’ll be able to check out Lauren Alaina‘s starring role in a movie that shares its title with her first #1 song, “Road Less Traveled.”

In the loosely-autobiographical tale, Lauren plays a country singer who returns to her Tennessee hometown a week before her wedding, and jeopardizes the whole affair after she’s thrust together with her high school sweetheart. Dallas‘s Charlene Tilton is one of her co-stars.

In addition to her chart-topping hit, the movie Road Less Traveled also includes Lauren’s latest single, “Doin’ Fine,” as well as other songs from her current album.

CMTJason Aldean, Darius Rucker and Lady Antebellum‘s Charles Kelley will mark the passing of Gregg Allman with a special performance at next week’s CMT Music Awards. The Southern rock pioneer died last Saturday of complications from liver cancer.

Kelsea Ballerini, who’s tied for the most nominations with Thomas Rhett and Keith Urban, will take the stage too, as will Little Big Town.

Mercury NashvilleChris Stapleton is postponing the next three weeks of concerts on his All-American Road Show tour, and cancelling his June 11 appearance at CMA Music Festival, according to a statement on his website.

While the announcement doesn’t explain the reason for the decision, it goes on to advise fans to “hold on to your tickets for now,” as Chris’s team is “working to reschedule” the dates.

BMLGBrett Young lands his second #1 in a row this week, as “In Case You Didn’t Know” rises to the top of Billboard‘s Country Airplay ranking.

“As a songwriter, the ultimate reward when you write a song is that it impacts someone’s life,” Brett says of the popular wedding song he co-wrote.

“Maybe one of our biggest inspirations and challenges,” he muses, “but when it happens, it is simply the most fantastic feeling.”

The California native’s million-selling “In Case You Didn’t Know” follows his debut single, “Sleep Without You,” which also went to #1 and was certified Gold.

ABC/Image Group LAWhen Keith Urban started writing “The Fighter,” his top-15 hit came together very quickly. The Australian superstar gives at least half of the credit to his Academy-Award-winning wife, Nicole Kidman.

“I literally just thought about Nic and I, and our relationship at the beginning and some of the things that we had said,” he remembers, “and it all went into that song.”
