When several fans questioned Maddie & Tae‘s CMA nomination for Vocal Duo of the Year on Twitter, the reigning CMA and ACM Vocal Duo was quick to clap back.

“because they’re f****** awesome that’s why,” TJ and John tweeted.

Maddie & Tae were quick to express their gratitude: “When your favorite duo shuts down haters for you,” they added, reposting Brothers’ comment. “Absolutely adore y’all…”

Along the way, Dierks and Cole scored a #1 hit together with “Flatliner,” and Cole says Dierks has taught him things he’ll continue to use for the rest of his career.

CMAEven without a major radio hit, Miranda Lambert managed to score the most nominations for the 51st CMA Awards, with five. Little Big Town and Keith Urban are just behind her, with four apiece. Eric Church, Maren Morris, Thomas Rhett and Chris Stapleton could all take home three trophies each.

Reba McEntire reappears this year in the Female Vocalist category, setting up an interesting possibility. If Reba wins, she could tie Miranda’s record for the most Female Vocalist trophies, with five apiece.
