Midland puts “blood, sweat, tears and booze” into On the Rocks

Harper Smith for Big Machine RecordsJust as Midland gets ready to compete for two Grammys at this weekend’s ceremony in New York City, the trio is giving fans an inside look at the making of their breakthrough record.

“It’s like this super team where everybody’s working to bring the song to its full potential,” lead singer Mark Wystrach says of creating their debut disc, On the Rocks. “This album is soaked in blood, sweat, tears and booze.”

ABC/Image Group LA Brad Paisley has left his mark on Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena — quite literally.

Along with artist Rob Hendon, Brad has painted a Music-City-themed mural on the first level of venue. In addition to guitars, a cowboy hat and a catfish, you’ll also spot Gnash, the mascot of Nashville’s Predators hockey team.

The artwork is titled “Smashville,” another reference to the Predators, who made it to the final game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs last year. You can check out a time-lapse video of the two working on the mural on YouTube.

ABC/Lorenzo BevilaquaDolly Parton‘s music will play a central role in an upcoming movie starring Jennifer Aniston.

Dumplin’ is based on the popular young adult novel by Julie Murphy about a teen who enters a beauty pageant, and who also happens to be a huge fan of the music superstar from East Tennessee. Dumplin’ is a nickname for Willowdean — which also happens to be the real name of Dolly’s oldest sister, Willadeene. Aniston plays the girl’s mother.

Burke/Triolo Productions/Thinkstock Restless Heart kicks off its 35th Anniversary Tour January 27 with an appearance at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on the Grand Ole Opry .

The stars of Nashville have added two more shows to their Farewell Tour in the UK and Ireland. Clare Bowen, Chris Carmack, Charles Esten, Jonathan Jackson and Sam Palladio will play Dublin on April 23 and Belfast on April 24. They’ve also opened up more seats for their April 21 show in London.
