Hockey Camp with Famous Trainer at NMU’s Berry Events Center

The Berry Events Center on Northern Michigan University’s campus has a very special guest this week.

Sean Skinner, famous for training NHL players and teams stick handling skills, is hosting a Hockey Camp for young athletes each day this week.

We saw 8-year-old Henry McRoberts of Kingsford skating in the Berry; he was full of energy! Henry’s mom, Lisa McRoberts, a Partner of Norway Spring, said they were in Eagle River last week for training. She also said after Sean Skinner’s camp they were going to hurry home so Henry could play soccer in Iron Mountain…Ooo to be young again.

Henry has been skating since he was only 3-years-old as part of DAHA, the Dickinson Area Hockey Association. He had no problem keeping up with all the older players. What a great thing that hockey is offered at such a young age, it’s active and fun!

Sean uses a wireless microphone out on the ice to talk and motivate the kids while he skates with them. The Berry sound system has never sounded so clear!

For more information on Shawn Skinner go to or stop by the Berry and check out the camp!
