Chocolate Chip Cookies Saved My Day

Chocolate chip cookies make bad days better.

Marquette, Michigan   –   February 4, 2014  -  This morning I made chocolate chip cookies. I figured I would go start my car while they were cooling so it would be nice and warm for my drive to work.

After searching my jacket pockets and then the entire house for my keys, I finally found them hanging from the ignition in my car — my locked car.

No problem, right? Just use the spare key in the hide-a-key, right? Wrong. Last time I did that, I forgot to put the key back into the hide-a-key. Oops!

Sadly, my spare set of spare keys is nowhere to be found (Yes, I do have a spare set of spare keys). If I had to guess, I’d say they’re probably sitting inside the console of the car.

Not the best place to store your keys.

I lock my keys in the car a few times a year. It’s not a habit — I don’t lock my car on purpose (most of the time) – I tend to bump the lock when I get out of the car.

Usually I bump it because I’m holding onto the door for dear life. Have you ever slipped on the ice as you were getting out of the car? Ouch!

I’m sure I’ll be calling Brett from Antilla’s Towing in Ishpeming to drive all the way out to our house in the middle of the woods and unlock the car door so I can get my keys out.

I’m not thrilled about having to do this, but at least I’m spending my money at a friend’s business and helping the local economy.

The first thing I’m going to do when I get my keys back is make several copies and put them all over the house (and maybe a few other strategic places) so I don’t have to go through this again.

At least I was able to salvage the day with awesome chocolate chip cookies.
