Washington, D.C.  –  March 26, 2019  –  I very very much enjoyed our Farm Bureau trade track visit to the Embassy of Ireland. They welcomed the Michigan delegation.

Ireland loves the U.S. and especially Michigan. Recently Ireland has built a large dairy processing plant in Lower Michigan. Also, 50 Irish businesses have just relocated to the US to do business here including big investments in Michigan.

They have a high production rate and keep 15% to feed Ireland’s 5 million people. Then they export 85% of their production with 40% of their exports being Jameson Whiskey.

Ireland really appreciates the American Farm Bureau and our Michigan delegation was the largest group the embassy has had visit.

Our Irish host said that if Brexit happens, the U.S. and especially Michigan should form a special Fair Trade Deal with Britain and Ireland. He said they would welcome that and the deal might warm up the rest of the EU members to U.S. products.
