ISHPEMING, MI 03/11/2015– The Gwinn ModelTowners Boys basketball and the Negaunee Miners Boys basketball both traveled to Ishpeming for their district semi-finals this Wednesday night. Both teams  were definitely qualified to play each other and the crowd knew it. There was quite a turnover with both fan groups as they chanted against each other for their school team. It was a great game. All of the action was brought to you by Gordon Mielke on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 and GoToGwinn.com.

The first quarter started off with a BANG as our Theo Reddlan, of the Gwinn ModelTowners, gets the first 3 pointer of the game and put Gwinn on the board! Justin Beauchamp, also of the Gwinn ModelTowners, made both freethrows after a foul on negaunee put him to the line. Our ModelTowners did manage to get a turnover but got the ball back and Jonah Norman put it up and in for another two points for Gwinn. “Gwinn comes out of the Box SMOKING HOT!” said Gordy. Jonah Norman went up to the free throw line to shoot two after negaunee got their foul on #23 and he made 1/2. It seemed like Gwinn was going to take the whole cake this quarter until Rob Loye made the first basket for Negaunee. The Miners kept up a good fight and tied the game as well as the ModelTowners a few baskets later. The final score for this quarter was finalized when Ben Luke of the Miners got a great three pointer right before the buzzer making the score 15-12 with the Miners in the lead.
