Marquette, MIFebruary 19, 2014 – Actions Have Consequences – As they Should

an 84-year-old nun and 2 fellow activists were sentanced to Prison yesterday for Vandalizing a Storage Bunker Holding bomb-grade uranium.  Cutting through fences of a nuclear weapons plant, the vandals splashed blood on the bunker and painted messages.

Your first reaction may be: “blood on a building? Isn’t that to protect the people inside?” the asnwer is yes… apparently these 3 catholics need a little more bible study.  Then you may think… “if they were only trying to send a message, why wouldn’t they protest outside the fence where it is leagal”?  the answer – they were trying to do more than just send a message.  Finally you may ask: “If they really beleive they were right, why would they ask for leniency?  Shouldn’t they simply accept the punishment if they truly believe?”  Again the answer,,, yes they should… but then again, if they were truly Christians, they would not have done this in the first place.

I’m glad they were sentanced to prison, and I am glad the excuses like “you can’t send her to prison, she’s too old” were ignored.  If you commit a crime, face the punishment.  That is especially true if your crime is to make a philosophical point… if you aren’t prepared for the consequences, don’t commit the crime.  My only question is… what catholic hymn will I use to make a parody making fun of this story?
