Marquette, MI  – April 11, 2014 – Trucks to Presque Isle Power Plant Take the Long Way

With the lake iced up longer than usual, shipping is a few weeks behind schedule.  The power plant at Presque Isle is lower on coal than they would like, so coal will be trucked from the City Power Plant at south beach to the plant at Presque Isle.

Trucks, however will drive on the highway up to target, then down wright street, then to sugarloaf drive then to county road 550 and THEN to the power plant at Presque Isle.  This is a very short-term issue and it seems that even with lighter loads, the straight path along the lakeshore would make more sense.  Less traffic to content with AND saving gas.  I suppose those who designed the route could have been using some medical MJ when they drew up the plans… but in any case… it seems a waste.
