Marquette, MIApril 18, 2014 – Governor Snyder Declares Emergency for Marquette County

Governor Snyder has declared that Marquette County is indeed in a state of emergency.  The damage done, and the costs associated with it can now be paid for by someone else.  With costs associated with the winter exceeding a million dollars, the money is welcome, and very much needed.

My main question is this… What happened between last month’s decision that the problems do NOT qualify… to the recent decision that they do?   Don’t get me wrong… I’m not complaining… but it does seem like a logical question.  What are the criteria for a state of emergency?  It seems that it is simply when enough elected officials complain?

Regardless of that… I want to make sure everyone reading understands how hard people are working to restore lost services.  When water lines freeze & break due to the deep frost, those who fix the problems work tirelessly.  And they are often under-appreciated… so Here is my big “thank you” to all of them – on behalf of everyone who may have forgotten.
