Calumet, MIMarch 4, 2013  –  The Copper Dog 150 was a wintery blast of fun. This dog sled race twisted and turned through 150 miles of pristine winter wilderness from Calumet, Eagle Harbor, Copper Harbor and back to Calumet.

Midway Rentals and Sales was a proud supporter of this years race. They promote our community and appreciate the sport of dog sled racing.

The Copper Dog 150 along with the Copper Dog 40 brought 38 race teams, around 400 dogs, 450 volunteers, and thousands of spectators to the U.P.’s Keweenaw Peninsula for a weekend of fun.Copper Dog 150 and Copper Dog 40

After the start of the race the party in the streets began. Many events were held in towns along the trail. After the long anticipated finish, the weekend ended with a bang…of fireworks that is.

This years first place winner is Bruce Magnusson. Having his doubts about the race, Bruce was one of the bigger critics of the Copper Dog 150; however, now he has become one of the biggest supporters in the last couple years. Second place was taken by Dennis LaBoda.

This year marked the 4th year of the Copper Dog 150. Each year the event has grown and they hope to continue the trend in the years to come.

Midway Rentals and Sales was a proud sponsor of this years Copper Dog 150 and Copper Dog 40. Midway believes in our community and supports local associations and events such as dog sled racing in the U.P.!
