Left to Right – 8th place to 1st with the Red Lantern winner on the far right.
Gwinn - February 18, 2013 - The JackPine 30 dog sled race started in Gwinn at Larry’s Family Foods and ended at the First Baptist Church, Saturday February 16th.
For the first time in it’s history the JackPine 30 purse totaled $1000, with $200 going to the 1st place musher and his team! This would not have been possible without sponsors such as SIR Federal Credit Union!
Sixteen mushers competed in the 31-mile race with 6-dog teams. Heading north from Gwinn on M553 the teams crossed the railroad at Sands Station, looped around the Sands Plains and headed back to Gwinn for the finish. Teams who placed completed the course between 3 and 4 hours.

Adele, Branch Manager for the SIR Gwinn offices
The award ceremony took place at the Up North Lodge in Gwinn. Cash prizes were awarded to the 1st-8th place teams, with the winners time being under 3 hours.
There was also a Red Lantern Award for the last team to come in. SIR Gwinn Branch Manager, Adele, was there to support the mushers.
SIR Federal Credit Union now has offices in Negaunee, Marquette and Gwinn and are proud to support community events such as the JackPine 30!
