Congratulations to Matt Sturmer of Bruce Crossing,  Winner of Jackpine 30 Sled Dog Race in Gwinn

Marquette, Michigan  -  February 17, 2014  -  Ron Lauren, CEO of SIR Federal Credit Union, wishes to congratulate Matt Sturmer of Bruce Crossing, the winner of the annual Jackpine 30 sled dog race that took place on Saturday in Gwinn.

The Jackpine 30 is held in Gwinn each year during the U.P. 200 and Midnight Run sled dog races. The race course is approximately 26 miles long according to the U.P. 200 website and it winds through the woods, near lakes, and past an impressive beaver dam before looping back into Gwinn.

“I’d also like to extend congratulations to all the mushers for participating in the race,” said Lauren.

The first eight finishers in the race won a cash prize and a plaque commemorating the race at the Awards Ceremony that was held at UP North Lodge in Gwinn.

CEO Ron Lauren also reminds you that getting involved and participating in community events creates a win-win situation for everyone.

“A lot of people came out to cheer on the mushers and their dogs and it’s great to see that kind of support,” Lauren said. “This is what keeps events like this coming back to our community year after year.”
