Have I Told You Recently Why I Love Hockey???

Marquette02/02/12 – Hockey, my beloved game of choice!!! Thanks to the NHL Network even though I can’t watch most games during the NHL season, I still can keep up to date with daily highlights. The game that involves speed, strength, skill, finesse, the need for “a big bag of knuckles” in front of the opponent’s net and sometimes, a little bit of luck.

Which would be a better game to watch – a high scoring, one goal victory or a low scoring, one goal win? I think the excitement of the nature of hockey is present in either scenario. If it’s high scoring; the lead in the game is changing hands often and you’re watching the clock to see who will score last before time runs out.If it’s low scoring, both teams’ goalies are making outstanding saves and you’re watching to see who’s team is going to score first!

Last night, the LA Kings(5-2-3 in their last 10 games) were hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets (2-7-1). The lead changed hands four different times during the course of the game until the 3rd period. With 1:06 remaining in the game, Columbus’ Samuel Pahlsson took a hooking penalty call, giving the Kings a power play to finish out regulation play.

I won’t tell you how the game ended, you should watch for yourself…the over-head camera above the Columbus goal says it all, not to mention the faces of Drew Doughty and his fellow Kings teammates!!!!

The added beauty of the game is that you can never tell when a struggling team like Columbus will generate their team cohesion to deliver an exciting challenge like that. Was that EXCITING or WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
