G.I. Joe Tops the List of All Time Toys

Growing up in the 60′s and 70′s, my brother and I got some great toys for Christmas. Toys back then allowed you to use your imagination more, I think than what high technology warrants. The toys that I had from this list are shown in the photo gallery.

Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, president and CEO of The Children’s Museum in Indianapolis, surveyed repondents to conpile a list of the Top Toys of the past 100 years.

The winner of the Number 1 position in the poll of 24,000 votes cast in person and online over a five week period is the G.I. Joe, that debuted on shelves in 1964. The top 100 list was reduced to the top 20 after hundreds of people cast their votes on their beloved toys they grew up with from the past.

The list of the Top 20 toys are:

  1. G.I. Joe                                      11. Raggedy Ann
  2. Transformers                          12. Spirograph
  3. LEGO Toys                               13. Etch A Sketch
