Happy Birthday, Ricky Skaggs!
The Mountain Music Man from Kentucky, Ricky Skaggs, whose name is closely linked to Bluegrass music is celebrating his 59th birthday!
Ricky at age seven, made his Grand Ole Opry debut and performed with bluegrass legends Flatt & Scruggs on their popular syndicated television show, for which he earned his first paycheck for a musical performance. This giant of a talent struck his first chords on a mandolin over 50 years ago, and this 14-time Grammy Award winner continues to do his part to lead the recent roots revival in music.
Ricky’s latest release was 2011’s, “Music to My Ears” which featured Bee Gee’s Barry Gibbs, Gordon Kennedy( multi Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer) and Justin Moses (banjo player and current member of Kentucky Thunder).

Dennis meets Ricky Skaggs
In 2008, I had the privilege of meeting Ricky Skaggs at a musicians conference for church worship in Ft. Mills, S.C. Mr. Skaggs has a warm personality and is very hospitable to helping the next generation of musicians develop themselves to their utmost potential.
