King George – Country Music legend George Strait ended his country music touring career in style and in record breaking fashion. His final date of the Cowboy Rides Away Tour, George set an indoor concert attendance record for North America at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Saturday night, Strait drew 104,793 fans to see his final tour performance, a number that broke the 1981 record held by the Rolling Stones, who appeared before 87,500 fans at the Louisiana Superdome.

Recent CMA & ACM Entertainer of the Year winner presented a three hour show, singing 20 of his record 60 No. 1 hits. Helping George deliver an outstanding performance were appearances from notable stars and good friends – Vince Gill, Alan Jackson,  Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Sheryl Crow, Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert and Kenny Chesney.

Though Saturday night’s show brought an end to Strait’s touring career, he is not retiring. He recently extended his contract with MCA for five more albums, and he has said that he will likely continue to perform sporadically.
