4/10/2012 (TheBoot.com) — Big congrats to Lee Brice on scoring his first No. 1 as an artist with “A Woman Like You” on both the Country Aircheck/Mediabase and Billboard Country Songs charts. The singer-songwriter has two No. 1s as a writer: he co-penned the Eli Young Band‘s “Crazy Girl” as well as Garth Brooks‘ record-setting “More Than a Memory,” which debuted at the top of the charts in 2007.

While “A Woman Like You” is not a song that the newly-engaged singer wrote, it was personally pitched to him. “Jon Stone came over and said, ‘I wrote this song.’ He played it for me and I knew immediately I wanted to record it,” Lee tells The Boot. “I went out and recorded a demo of it and within a couple weeks, my label [Curb Records] told me they wanted to release it as my next single.”
