condition. According to a statement from his publicist, the Grammy winner is suffering from complications of viral cardiomyopathy.

Travis was admitted into the medical facility on Sunday (July 7). It is unclear when and how the cardiomyopathy came to light. The statement describes the condition as “recently acquired.”

According to PubMed, viral cardiomyopathy is a viral infection of the heart that can lead to damaged heart muscles. If it progresses over time, the condition can cause shortness of breath, dizziness and fatigue, and the long-term prognosis can include overall weakening of the heart.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Randy and his family at this time. Be listening during the FXD Drive as I’ll have more updates throughout the afternoon on Randy Travis.
