“The King of the Countdown” Casey Kasem

6/18/2014 Marquette, Michigan — While Casey Kasem may not have played very many country tunes over the years on American Top 40, everyone that listens to radio knows Casey Kasem’s voice! I’m sure by now you have heard that Casey Kasem, “The King of Countdown” passed away on Sunday, June 15th at the age of 82. Casey had been suffering from a disease over the past 7 months.

I remember growing up and listening to American Top 40 in the late 80’s and early 90’s. I remember on the weekend I would lay in bed and just listen to Casey’s soft, subtle voice. I will also never forget the long distance dedications that Casey brought to American Top 40.

I’m sure at some point in your life you’ve listened to Casey Kasem. He had the perfect personality for radio too! He could interact with anyone on the air, and strike up a conversation that engaged the listener. In celebration of Casey’s life, our sister station, Sunny.FM (101.9 FM) will bring you a VERY special tribute to the king of countdown on Sunday evening at 7pm. Make sure you tune in as Kerri and Mike Kasem, Casey’s children will co-host the show on Sunny.FM!
