Old Friends Reunite!

Houghton, Michigan from Portage Lift Bridge

Houghton, Michigan — What’s better than a bunch of close friends getting together in the Keweenaw after nearly one year? I can’t think of anything. I had spent some of my weekend in the Keweenaw with a few close friends of mine. Although the 40 mile-per-hour winds did put a damper on some of our fun Friday night, we still made the best of it.

The fun started on Friday evening as all four of us packed in one vehicle. We met at an apartment complex where a close friend of mine lives in Houghton. Shortly afterward, we made a trip across the Portage Lift Bridge to Hancock, and set out our journey to find a place to eat. When four grown men are hungry, nothing can get in your way.

After making a stop at a couple restaurants in Hancock and being told that “you will have a 30 minute wait” we decided to go a little further up north. Little did any of us realize that most of the restaurants we stopped at required reservations too (we didn’t make any). After going as far north as Eagle River, Michigan…we decided to turn back and (finally) found a place to eat! Quite a memorable experience when looking back…I guess you had to be there!

After our dinner adventure, we stopped at a few places in Houghton and went back to the apartment complex. Had a few drinks, played some cards and called it a night. It was a great experience, and I would gladly do it all over again. It’s so nice to reunite with old friends that are like family. It brings back memories that you’ll forever hold on to.
