The view from my blind

Arnold, MichiganNovember 17, 2016 – Man, we have had some incredible weather this past week, especially for November.  Unfortunately, with the great weather comes the lack of deer moving.  I spent the last two afternoons out in the woods patient and hopeful for something brown with a white tail and big brown antlers to come into my bait pile.  This effort as come to no avail.

In the two days I have spent in the woods, I have not seen a single deer.  Not a doe, not a fawn, and certainly not a buck.  It’s not only me who has had no success, but the same fate has been bestowed upon every hunter in my camp! Two days, six hunters, and not one deer has been seen by any of us.

As I write this, on Thursday evening, I have not heard a report from the 4 J’s Camp on tonight’s hunt, but I do not expect it to be any different.  With the warm weather the deer are just not moving.  I am fairly optimistic about this weekend however as the cold and snow are supposed to be moving in, and hopefully the deer will be moving!
