Round 1 had plenty of surprises

Marquette, MIApril 26, 2019 – The first round of the NFL Draft was held last night in Nashville and it did not go without some surprises.

While Kyler Murray went #1 overall to Arizona as many expected, the Lions and Packers made some somewhat surprising splashes.

The Lions took Iowa Tight End T.J. Hockenson with the #8 overall pick. Many were not high on the pick with Ed Olliver and Devin Bush still on the board, and with reminders of Eric Ebron, I think this is a solid pick for Detroit. Hocksenson is the safe pick, and he will make an impact right away. No reason to be upset.

The Green Bay Packers took Michigan EDGE rusher Rashan Gary with the #12 overall pick. Much was made about the lack of Gary’s production in college, but Rashan Gary is going to be a monster in the NFL. The Packers got a STEAL at #12 with the Gary pick. Packer nation should be very very excited.
