Online Snowmobile Safety Course for Youth Operators Approved by DNR

Youth operators can now enjoy an online snowmobile safety course through an endorsement to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. This is the first online snowmobile course endorsed by the DNR.

Snowmobile Safety classes are Offered in-person and online

Michigan’s snowmobile safety education requirement for youth operators would be satisfied upon successful completion of the online course. Michigan law requires snowmobile operators at least 12 years of age, but less than 17, to successfully complete an approved safety training program. The safety training certificate must be carried by youth operators whenever they are operating a snowmobile in Michigan.

Fresh Air Educators Inc., is providing the online course and also has another option for those interested in taking an approved safety course. In-person classroom courses are offered throughout Michigan. There is a $229.95 fee to take the online course. More information on the online course can be found here.

You can search for available Recreational Safety classes in your areas under Education and Outreach on the DNR website.
