Tobi - Right off the plane from Germany

Tobi – Right off the plane from his connection in Detroit.

Last Saturday my wife Cori and I met our new German exchange student Tobi at Sawyer International Airport.  He was exhausted from the day of travel, he first flew from Berlin to Paris then to Detroit where he ran through the whole airport to catch his flight, and finally to the U.P.  He still had enough energy to enjoy Pizza for dinner and show us pictures of his family and childhood.

Tobi’s first day as a senior at Marquette High school was today and he was anxious to get to class.  His English is quite good and has improved everyday since he arrived.

Over the Labor Day Cori and I taught him to water ski on the Dead River Basin.  He popped up first try but soon fell. 😉   The next try he was up for about 5 minutes and did great.  We plan to go out again whenever there is a warm enough day.  He is an avid downhill skier and learned in the Swiss Alps so the adjustment to water skiing was no problem.

Leave a comment below for him to welcome him to the U.P. and Thanks for tuning in the the Country Scoop!
