Marquette, MI  –  May 17, 2019  – We brought day two of our 2019 St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Radiothon to a close today with $14,970 raised by you, our local loyal listeners. Because of everyone who became a Partner in Hope over the last two days of our live radio broadcast for St. Jude, we raised thousands of dollars that will support children, families, and research. Just six partners in hope pays for a full week of meals for three St Jude families. Over 700 people in our community came together to become Partners in Hope and support our kids and cancer research.

Our Title Sponsor, Hardee’s sent Marquette General Manager, Travis in to join Eric Scott this morning on 103-FXD for the whole 8am hour. While Travis was on air with Eric, he told us that Hardee’s has donated $930,000 to St. Jude since 2012. Part of why we love the St. Jude Radiothon is that it is also a great time for our local businesses to connect and donate to St. Jude as well. Big thanks to all 13 Marquette County businesses who sponsored our 2019 St. Jude Radiothon!

Because of the donations people make every day to St. Jude, the research hospital is able to continue their tests to improve survival rates and hopefully one day, cure cancer. Research and discovers St. Jude develops are shared with hospitals all over the world. That knowledge could help save kids right here in the Upper Peninsula. Leading up to the Radiothon, our staff got to speak with two different Michigan families who brought their children to St. Jude after a diagnosis. Kerry, Jacob’s mom was able to talk to us about her son who received his diagnosis 10 years ago. Jacob had 31 rounds of cranial and spinal radiothon before coming back for another round of treatment. Kerry explained that St. Jude never abandoned Jacob, even now, 10 years later, as he is getting ready to go to prom and graduate high school, Jacob is still a patient at St. Jude. They still have him in for annual check ups and support him like any other St. Jude patient.
