Watching the guys at the Negaunee Gun Club Shoot sporting clays is exciting but being on a team shooting with celebrities to raise money would be even better! The Tug McGraw Foundation will hold its 2nd Annual “Celebrity Sporting Clay Pro-Am” on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Nashville Gun Club in Nashville, Tennessee. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Tug McGraw Foundation and its efforts to improve the lives of military service members who have been affected by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).  “Celebrity Sporting Clay Pro-Am” will feature an exciting lineup of celebrities from both the music and professional sporting clay communities, all vying for a chance to be crowned champions. CMA Award-winning musician Kix Brooks will be joining the foundation for the event, along with an all-star lineup of country celebrities to be announced in the coming weeks. Heading up the professional contingent for the event is Bill McGuire, the 2011 National Sporting Clay Champion along with Brad Kidd, Jr., Chris Reed from Top Shot, Andy Ross of Maximum Archery and Tom Mac from CZ Guns.                                                  The event will be a sporting clay competition between 15 teams consisting of four amateurs, one professional, and a music celebrity. Unlike trap or skeet, which are games of repeatable target presentations, sporting clay competitions simulates the unpredictability of live-quarry, offering a greater variety of trajectories, angles, speeds, elevations, distances, and target sizes. The teams will make their way through the award-winning 20-station sporting clay course at the Nashville Gun Club. Following the competition there will be a lunch featuring fine Cajun cuisine and silent auction with items including wine, dining, travel and sports & music memorabilia. 5/16/2013 Marquette, Michigan -- It never amazes me how country music does the most good! Recently, Willie Nelson Raised more than $120,000 for West, Texas Explosion Relief. Willie Nelson recently turned 80 years old, so this fit in perfectly with his birthday celebration! Willie Nelson turned his 80th birthday bash into a fundraiser and gathered over $120,000 to benefit two towns devastated by the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas. The singer's representatives presented two checks to separate parties on Monday (May 13th). The West Volunteer Fire Department received a check for $81,000 while the town of Abbott, Texas (Nelson's hometown) received about $40,000. Fourteen people were killed and over 200 injured when an explosion occurred on the evening of April 17th. Like Maureen Maltez, an unknown singer who receive a big break from country artist Trace Atkins.  Trace Adkins found himself in need of a duet partner for his appearances on the Today Show and Fox & Friends this week — and instead of calling on the skills from one of his musician friends, Trace decided to offer Maltez. Atkins heard Maureen perform at a junior college fundraiser. Atkins later surprised her with a copy of the song during a jazz dance class two weeks ago and after a few short rehearsals the pair boarded a plane to New York on Tuesday. Wouldn't that be an amazing surprise - have Trace Atkins come up to you and ask, `Hey, you want to go to New York City and sing on the “Today” show?’ WOW!!! I saw this camp firewood stand in the Marquette Super One Foods parking lot this morning. This is only the second time I've seen a "self pay box" believe it or not. Coming from Trenary, a town with a population of 300, you'd think I would have seen this more! This past fall, my finance and I went to buy pumpkins and the roadside pumpkin stand we stopped at had the trusting "pay here" box. He couldn't believe I hadn't seen one before. I think it is very cool that not only in small towns but even in the "big city" of Marquette, Michigan people are still trusting enough, and honest enough, to be able to use a "put money here" box!
