Could we see all of this on Thursday and Friday in the Upper Peninsula?

2/20/2014 Marquette, Michigan — Many school districts in the Upper Peninsula appear to be preparing for the worst–some are already cancelling classes for Friday. Others are holding off just to see how bad it could get on Friday, February 21st.

Either way, we’ll have all the closings and cancellations to get your Friday commute going during FXD Morning’s with Joe on 103-FXD. News Director Walt Lindala will be busy preparing for all the closings and cancellations on Friday as well. In the meantime, be prepared for the Winter Storm that’s expected to hit the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on Thursday night and into the day on Friday.

The higher terrain (West of Marquette) could see the worst. Snowfall totals are expected to be near a foot or more….

We’re going to see a rain/snow/sleet mix early on Thursday afternoon. The snow will get heavy later on tonight and into Friday. The wind could really be a factor as well. The Keweenaw Peninsula could see wind gusts exceed 50+ MPH.

So, bottom line, if you don’t have to travel tonight please don’t. Stay tuned to 103-FXD for all the latest in closings and cancellations on your Thursday and Friday.
