5/8/2014 Ishpeming, Michigan — I almost walked into my home last night with a pet–only this time it was something very unusual: a deer! That’s right, I took a walk on the Heritage Trail between Ishpeming and Negaunee last night and happened to look behind me only to notice a deer wasn’t too far behind me!
I have never run into a deer that was so tame before. I immediately thought that this deer was either; 1.) hungry; 2.) needed a new friend, or; 3.) was lost and confused. I think I’m going with #2…
I felt bad for this particular deer. It looked like it had a long winter (just like the rest of us!) Had I had some food on me, I would’ve ended up feeding the little fella.
This was the first LONG WALK I had taken since the snow fell last November! It felt so good to get out for a change. I ended up going and couldn’t stop! The weather was semi-decent and the peepers were out too! It felt as though I was walking on cloud nine…. with a pet deer directly behind me. I’m not sure where he ended up, but I’ll be looking for him the next time I’m on the Heritage Trail between Ishpeming and Negaunee.
