Besides singing country music on the big stage, mention football and Kenny Chesney smiles from ear to ear. Chesney once again is co-producing a football documentary with Nashville filmmaker, Shaun Silva (The Irrelevant Giant, The Color Orange: The Congrege Holloway Story) on one of the most legendary NCAA figures of all time, former Florida Gators and current South Carolina Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier.
The Believer, scheduled to run August 27th, will touch on Spurrier’s football career, Heisman trophy-winning stint as quarterback with the University of Florida, a nine-season run with the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers and setting records for number of wins at Florida and South Carolina.
Chesney previously co-produced ESPN’s 2011 film, The Color Orange: The Condredge Holloway Story, a one-hour documentary about the first African-American to start as quarterback in the SEC.
