October 17th, 1990 was a difficult day for the mother – daughter team that were enjoying a successful music career. Naomi Judd announced her retirement from her duet career with daughter, Wynonna after an extremely successful 7 years. The two were in the middle of their “Love Will Build A Bridge Tour” when Naomi received word of being diagnosed with Hepatitis C. The pair had achieved 20 Top 10 hits; 15 #1 hits when Naomi decided to retire after receiving her diagnosis.
After the Judds wrapped their farewell tour in 1991, the elder Judd became an active spokesperson for the American Liver Foundation, and also created the Naomi Judd Education and Research Fund. She devoted much of her time and resources to education and support for those dealing with the deadly disorder.
I really miss theses two ladies – one of the most successful mother/daughter duets in country music.
Here’s one of my favorite songs by them…Girls Night Out!
