I have never been a binge eater at all in my life but I do occasionally get the feelin’ – the appetite feelin’ for certain dishes and last night it was lo mein. My first taste of this dish was over at Hong Kong Buffet and I loved their recipe.

I did some internet recipe searching and found several that I experimented with and finally tweeked it to where I liked it. Oyster Sauce is the prime ingredient that gives the dish its distinct taste with several other ingredients to complete the sauce that gets mixed in with the noodles. Sesame oil, ginger, miced garlic, soy sauce, beef or chicken stock and Sriracha sauce. The Sriracha sauce is where I get in trouble with my wife, who doesn’t like overly hot tasting dishes anyway.

This time, I substituted Kikomen wasabi sauce instead of Sriracha and that made a big difference -not hot at all! Instead of the traditional lomein noodles, I found a tomato basil linguine that is a great substitute. I have found the latest and wife-approved recipe to use from now on. Mmmm! Nothing beats good home cooking!
