Gwinn, Michigan – March 5, 2015 – Your Gwinn Lady ModelTowners are going for their First District Championship since 1997!
The gym was electric as Gwinn defeated the Ishpeming Hematites last night! Between Tori Lauren, with her 27 points and 15 rebounds, and the Senior Leadership of Ellie Olsen and Jordyn Hutchins, the Lady ModelTowners surprised the Hematites with a victory. Tierra Taylor, the Freshman Phenom, cleaned up on the boards inside and added 10 points while Junior Point Guard, Nicole Usher handled Ishpeming’s pressure with ease.
Gwinn will need to play tough, scrappy defense to try to hold the shorter, quicker Negaunee Miners at bay. Home court advantage showed last night with Justin Beauchamp and the boys leading the way for the Black and Gold. Justin, sporting his swampers and gold boxer shorts with the sunglasses and headband, really set the tone. The crowd got behind Justin from the moment the opposing team came on the floor to warm up.
