Menominee, Michigan – July 9th, 2015 – I’m not kidding! Down south (the southern U.P.) was an excellent getaway this past weekend! I took in some of the 4th of July festivities in the Marquette and Ishpeming areas on Saturday, then headed down south to Menominee, Michigan and Marinette, Wisconsin. I also decided to head down to Green Bay, Wisconsin with family for the day.
Sunday it was HOT in Menominee. I believe that Sunday was the hottest day of 2015 yet! The temperature reached 91 degrees! Holy cow! My family was camping at a Trailer Park along the Menominee River. It was nice to take in the breeze along the river and head into town to enjoy some air conditioning! If you’ve ever been through Menominee chances are you’ve seen the campground just below the bridge that crosses into Marinette, Wisconsin. It’s a beautiful city park; only downside it’s VERY close to the highway.
It was nice to relax over the weekend in Menominee, Michigan and Marinette, Wisconsin. My family and I decided to hit a couple of the local restaurants in the area and just enjoy the company of friends! The campfire on Sunday night in Menominee couldn’t have been better. The breeze off the Menominee River was like heaven on earth. The clear sky above at night and the mild temperatures made it perfect for sleeping. Personally, I enjoy a mild night when I’m sleeping. Temperatures in the lower 60’s at night. :) PERFECT!
This was the perfect way to spend the rest of my Independence Day weekend… a nice wrap-up in the southern U.P. Like I said… down south is where it’s at!
