It sure was a gorgeous day out today, and I had a lot of fun bringing you all the best country and bluegrass music on the Outdoor Show today! We also had a chance to groove to some great new alternative country, and today’s Outlaw Cut was the one and only Johnny Cash with his cover of the Trent Reznor song “Hurt”. The gun deer hunting season may be over for this year, but the warm temps and precipitation that we’ve had have certainly turned on the trout and salmon bite in the rivers!
The first Outdoor Report of the day was with Nick from Superior Outfitters, which is located in Marquette, MI. He is an excellent source of fishing information for the Marquette area, and he told us all about how the rain and snow that we’ve had has helped move fish into the rivers. The fishing seems to be the best right now for brown trout and steelhead, but other species can still be found in the rivers!
I had a special guest for the second of today’s Outdoor Reports. Richard P. Smith joined me in the studio to give us his recap for the gun deer hunting season. He first talked with me about how the current deer hunting regulations and the past hard winters have discouraged hunters from going out and taking deer. Then we moved on to talk about his observations for the deer harvest from the gun deer season, and we also discussed late season deer hunting tactics.
On today’s Big Boy Sports Recap, Steve Whelan and I first talked about the Detroit Red Wings game tonight against the Arizona Coyotes in what is sure to be an exciting game! Both teams have 13 wins, so it will be a toss-up as to who the winner will be tonight. We also talked some college basketball, with the Badgers and State taking wins last night, and we wrapped-up the segment talking about the BIG Packers and Lions rematch tonight in Detroit.
