Marquette, MI – December 16, 2015 – It was another great day here on 103-FXD playing some great country and bluegrass music. We had some really good bluegrass cuts today as well as some more recent country music on the air. Bluegrass from Tony Rice and Norman Blake with the song Ginsing Sullivan and Jimmy Martin’s Down the Road. Our Outlaw Cut was I Think I’ll Just Stay Here and Drink from Merel Haggard and finally Elmor’s cut was Hank William Sr’s Long Gone Lonesome Blues.
To start off our show we had Tom from Hillside Party Store in Munising about this years deer season over all and the effect of predators in Alger County. I also confirmed solid splake fishing reports from Munsing Bay.
Then we talked to Nick from Superior Outfitters in Marquette for second time this week to discuss the effects of the deluge of rain on our rivers and streams. We talked about how some bigger rivers were dangerously unfishable, however our smaller streams were still fishable with a little bit of caution. The good news is, the high water has brought in a fresh batch of chrome steelhead. Nick and I also chatted about the gear necessary to get into fly-fishing and why it is so much fun.
We had special guest Suzy Snowflake from Marquette Mountain on for our Ski Report. The cool temperatures have allowed the ski hill to turn their snow guns up and running to make some snow! Marquette Mountain will be open for the season this Saturday with night skiing starting the same night! The mountain is working on making sure all the runs are up and running. Head out to Marquette Mountain this Sunday as well for car load day; $60 for everyone in your car, truck or van!

For our Big Boy Recap, Steve Whelan and I started out with some excitement about the Blackhawks heavy loss to Colorado. The next Lions game is coming up next Monday against the Saints. Lions have made a lot of strong new claims on players. We touched on college sports too. U of M’s point guard had 59 points before being taken off the court. U of M also landed a nice recruit for next year’s football team. MSU is feeling good and they say their ready for the next football game. Looking at Wisconsin, Bo Ryan ended his career as a basketball choice with an incredible amount of success.
