Gwinn,Michigan– 01/26/16– The Gwinn ModelTowner Girls stayed at home to take on the Westwood Patriots this Tuesday night. It was a phenomenal game! Mike James and Justin Beauchamp brought you all of the fast-paced LIVE action on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 and 99.9. The game was also streamed live at GoToGwinn.com!
The first quarter of the game started off fiery. Both teams were ready to play their best. The Patriots got the first points of the game followed by Nichole Usher making her first three pointer of the game for Gwinn! Tori Lauren also got a piece of the action this quarter along with Tiara Taylor for the ModelTowners. Tori scored the most points for Gwinn in the first quarter. 11-11 was the tied score at the end of one. In the second quarter the ball went to the Patriots to start off . Nichole Usher and Tori Lauren scored in the second quarter for the ModelTowners but Nichole also two other three pointers as well. Anna Cole and Nichole Usher had some good hustle with the ball. Tori Lauren was on a roll for Gwinn! 26-16 was the score at halftime with our Gwinn ModelTowners in the lead.
The second half of the game was bliss for our ModelTowners. Nichole Usher was definitely bringing the intimidation on the court as she sinked three pointer after three pointer. 43-28 was the score at the end of three with our ModelTowners in the lead over the Patriots! Tiara Taylor scored right away in the fourth quarter, followed by Nichole Usher scoring her fifth three pointer of the night for Gwinn. Kia Evans got on the board with her first three pointer of the night for the ModelTowners. Kia got the last shot at the free throw line and the final score was 56-36 with our ModelTowner ladies taking a much deserved win!
After the game, Mike and Justin were able to interview Nichole Usher, Tori Lauren, and Coach Olsen. It was an awesome night for these girls. Nichole Usher was proud of her team. Tori Lauren said that “…everything went as planned and it was honestly one of the best games we played this year as a team and I am really excited! We are on a role!”. Coach said he was glad about this game and that he is really proud of his seniors. He said he thinks the girls are trending the right way and heading on the right track for the rest of this season.
