I Am Not a Plumber. I Am Not a Plumber.

Ishpeming, MichiganOctober 4th, 2016 – I am not a plumber. I truly mean that. I can’t stress that enough. It all started about a week ago. I was washing dishes in my kitchen sink when suddenly the water started backing up into my sink. I have a double sink so it was coming up in both ends. I immediately was worried that the main sewer line had backed up into my house. Luckily, that wasn’t the case.

The water DOES go down in my sink, but takes 20+ minutes just for it to go down. What could be the problem? I googled my plumbing problem to see if I could find some answers. Naturally anything that you google has an answer. Could the drainage pipe leaving my kitchen sink be plugged? Why was it taking forever for the water to drain out of my sink?

Google told me to take a plunger and pump one side of the sink while blocking the other side with a dish cloth. I did exactly that. Plunged away for 5+ minutes with ZERO results. Since that didn’t work I had to go to extreme measures. Next I used a plumbers snake to see if I could find a blockage in the drainage pipe. After using the plumbers snake several times I once again got ZERO results. What is going on here? I used Draino as well to see if that would make a difference. Again, it didn’t.

So, in the meantime, while I try to figure out what the problem is I have a couple of LARGE buckets underneath my sink to catch all the water. Every single day I’ve had to empty the buckets out in my bathtub. It’s really frustrating! Has this ever happened to you? If so, what worked to resolve the problem? I’m at a complete loss here…
