Marquette, MI – June 7, 2017 – Do you remember that trend from a few years ago when people were giving random names to things where the guideline was “Noun McNounface” or “Verb McVerbface”? Anything where the forename matched the surname with the “Mc” in front and “face” followed the surname?
Well, three years ago, a horse was born during the trend. Right before the birth of the horse, Britain offered a public poll to name their brand new $300 Million polar research ship. Either aware of the popular trend or unaware, the majority of the public decided they should name it “Boaty McBoatface.” The Natural Environment Research Council decided this was not the best name for the ship, but the news had at least caught someone’s eye.
Australian horse owner Joe Rosetti decided the name “Horsey McHorseface” was a great name and quickly convinced the co-owner and trainer Bjorn Baker. Suddenly, Horsey McHorseface was born.
Three years later, Horsey McHorseface got his first win. McHorseface’s win came in the Authur Thompson Memorial Maiden Plate in Australia. With one win under his belt, in his 4th race, it is time to start dreaming about the incredible possibility of “Horsey McHorseface” one day taking the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.
Well, I may be getting ahead of myself. But a man can dream, can’t he?
