Garden – Master guitarist Ken Bonfield will present a guitar basics workshop on Thursday, July 28 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Garden Golf and Winery Clubhouse, 6931 18th Road in Garden.
He will lead new guitarists through the techniques they’ll need to improve their playing and gain more enjoyment from the guitar. Topics will include proper posture, right and left hand technique, reading chord charts and tab, and how to use YouTube and other social media to learn songs.
Cost is $15 for the general public, $12 for Village Artisan members and free for age 17 or younger.
Bonfield will teach a master class, The Secrets of Alternate Tunings Revealed, on Friday, July 29 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. also at the Garden Golf and Winery Clubhouse, leading participants through the maze of possible tunings and share a system that allows players to take advantage of the myriad possibilities alternate tunings create. Basic requirements for the class are the ability to change first position chords, a guitar, a tuner, notebook, pencil and an open mind.
Cost is $25 for the general public $20 for Village Artisan members, and free for age 17 or younger. Class size is limited to 17 participants.
