I had a great time playing some old and new country music for everyone today. My Outlaw cut for the day was the General Lee by Johnny Cash and some bluegrass from the Seldom Scene, as well as Tony Rice. Don’t forget to put in your requests on Facebook or by email if you have a song that you think deserves to be played during the show!
We had a fantastic report come in today about river fishing from Nick at Superior Outfitters in Marquette. Nick met up with us to talk about the incredible stories he’s heard about recent steelhead, brown trout, and coho fishing across the U.P! Nick had great things to say about splake fishing and fishing at the river mouths.
Special guest Russ Mason, Chief of the Wildlife Division of the DNR joined us over the phone to give us some insight on last week’s NRC meeting. Russ said the meeting when very smoothly while bringing up some very interesting new concepts including legalizing use of suppressors while hunting. Russ Mason told us the recent hard winters the U.P. has had may be a factor in why the deer down was so low in the Upper Peninsula this season. Predators also seem to be a large factor in why hunters were so disappointed this year. Lastly, we touched on Chronic Wasting Disease and it’s recent appearances in the Lower Peninsula and in eastern Wisconsin.
To start off our Big Boy Sports Recap with Steve Whelan, we discussed the recent happenings in the NFL including the starting QB for the Bengals breaking his thumb. The quarter back is expected to be back in week 17, without surgery. With Mike McCarthy taking over the plays for the Green Bay Packers, the game had the most rushing yards for the team in seven years. Hosting the Buffalo Sabres, the Red Wings go for their 800th win tonight in Joe Louis Area, making it the most wins ever, in an NHL area.
We hope you had a great time tuning-in to today’s Adam Carpenter’s Outdoor Show! Tune in tomorrow for another great day of hunting, fishing, and sports in the UP and Michigan!
