WFXD Raises $17,854 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Marquette, MI November 12, 2021 – The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Radiothon has come to a close! Thanks to the efforts by our listeners and local businesses, we were able to raise $17,854 to help St. Jude further their goals as leaders in children’s medical research.

We dedicated 24 total hours to this year’s Radiothon, kicking off the event yesterday morning. Luke G, Eric Scott, and Adam Carpenter teamed up for the event. For twelve hours yesterday and another twelve hours today, we broadcasted the stories of the patients and families at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital affected by cancer, pediatric AIDS, and deadly childhood diseases.

Today, our hosts welcomed Travis, the general manager at Hardee’s of Marquette, who matched every donation made not once, but three times through out the event. Hardee’s has been an avid supporter of the St. Jude for nearly twenty years and gives year-round donations to the organization.

Many other local businesses also stepped up from around Marquette County to help support St. Jude’s research this year, including Hardee’s, Tadych’s Econo Foods, The Model Towne Inn, Poppi’s Pizzeria Mozzi, Jet’s Pizza, The Bargain Barn, Super One Foods, and Stepping Stones Daycare.

If you missed this year’s Radiothon, it’s not too late to donate! Head over to stjude.org and get involved by donating monthly to their cause. Our “Love Music Stop Cancer” shirts are available only for a limited time, so if you want that shirt, hurry before time runs out!

Since 2013, WFXD has been dedicating airwaves to St. Jude. You can read more about yesterday’s events here or check out the official webpage for this year.
