The Marquette Downtown Development Authority is pleased to announce Ethan Hornacek as the winner of this year’s Blueberry Festival Poster Contest
As photography student at Northern Michigan University, Ethan first attended Blueberry Festival during his initial visit to the Marquette area from his hometown of Traverse City, Michigan.
According to Hornacek, the inspiration behind his winning entry derived from a camping trip with friends. When the group discovered a patch of plump blueberries, they picked some for the next morning’s breakfast.
“I composed the picture in such a way that you have the feeling of unity and sharing,” Hornacek said. “Which I found to be the suitable match for what our Blueberry Festival is all about…coming together, sharing what we have and having a good time.”
Hornacek’s entry was selected by the community through both an online vote and ballot box at Marquette City Hall. The untitled photograph will be designated as the official 2012 Blueberry Festival Poster and used to promote the July 27th event.
Once again, the Blueberry Festival will feature a combination of traditional sidewalk sales, artists and crafters, food vendors, family activities, and live musical acts set in the streets of Downtown Marquette. The popular Blueberry Festival Youth Talent Show sponsored by the Lake Superior Youth Theatre will also return to complement the festivities.
