Marquette Township, MI – Joey Enright won today’s Country Showdown at the Fifth Annual Lions Field Recreation Area Catch the Vision Community Day.
The nation’s largest and longest running country music talent search, the Country Showdown is in it’s 34th year! It’s designed to find the most promising country music talent in the nation and give those performers a chance to launch their professional music careers.
The Country Showdown begins each spring with over 450 local talent contests sponsored by country music radio stations throughout the United States. Winner advance to their respective state competitions held at fairs and other popular venues where they compete for a $1,000 prize, the State Title, and the opportunity to advance to one of the Regional Finals.

The Regional Finals are the last step before the the prestigious, televised National Final. Regional winners compete for the Grand Prize of $100,000 and the title “Best New Act in Country Music.”
Judges tally scores in five different categories to decide the winner of the Country Showdown. Those categories are: marketability, originality of performance, vocal and instrument abilities, stage presence, and overall charisma. Additional points can be awarded if the contestants perform original music.
Congratulations to Joey Enright, our Community Day Country Showdown winner! Joey competed against Pastor JJ and his Worship Band from the Methodist church in Ishpeming and 19-year-old Molly from Manistique, who sang beautifully. Joey Enright now joins the Beats Workin’ Band (winners of our July 3rd competition) at the State Finals.
