Ishpeming, MI – December 17, 2015 – It was a party to bring in the New Year at Red Rock Lanes tonight! We had a lot of fun with about 350 of our loyal listeners as we gave away Two Tickets to Paradise. Thanks to Holiday Travel Vacations, Funjet Vacations, and Riu Hotels & Resorts, who provided the grand prize for us to give away to our lucky winner, a resident of Marquette. She won two round trip tickets to Cancun and an all-inclusive 5-night stay for two at the beautiful Riu Palace Riviera Maya hotel.
As the masses of people lined up at the door to register with Dennis and DeeDee, excited chatter filled the building. Everyone was more than ready for some amazing Italian food and to see if they held the lucky ticket that would be their ticket to a tropical paradise!
The people were not disappointed by the great catering from Mama Russo’s. Everyone downed loads of great lasagna, phenomenal cudighi bites, and various homemade salads given out by the smiling employees of Mama Russo’s.
With a full belly and a crowd of happy, but anxious people, it was time to pull out my camera and snap away. Walt kept things going with the announcement of our door prize winners. BioLife Plasma Center raffled off two $50.00 gift cards to Max Smith, from my hometown of Rochester, MI, and Angela Whitman from Manistique. All the proceeds from the raffle will go to a family living at a local women’s shelter. With door prizes given out, it was time for a festive game of cornhole!
With the bean bag boards set up and everyone in line for the game, smiles flashed across faces as they took their turn at tossing the bean bag for the hole. Winners from the game won a free game of bowling from Red Rock Lanes if they sunk the bean bag.
After Laura Chapman from Holiday Travel and Walt Lindala announced the ticket numbers for the seven finalists, everyone’s attention was focused on the front of the room where the finalists stood holding their favorite station envelopes, hoping that their envelope contained Two Tickets to Paradise! The grand prize was in the WRUP envelope held by a Marquette resident. Even though only one person could win the grand prize, we made sure all our finalists went home with some great prizes from local businesses. Garret Green from Negaunee got a $100 gift card to Wattsson and Wattsson Jewelers and Amber Robiutaille of Rapid River received a $100 Gift Basket from Super One Foods. Finalist Brenda Alexander won a Car Care Club Membership from Southside Automotive, while Nollan Pettersen out of Marquette won the second Gift Basket from Super One Foods. Pam Prusi won a $100 gift certificate from MC Sports and Cassandra Evers from Iron Mountain left with a Bayside Beverage Miller High Life Cooler Package.
