Negaunee, MI – July 9, 2016 – Today, the streets of Negaunee were packed with people excited to celebrate Pioneer Days in with a parade! There was no shortage of floats, marching groups and exciting sounds at this event. This was my first Pioneer Days Parade, and now I can’t wait for next year. All of the pride and hard work shown by all of the local groups in the parade, as well as the smiles and excitement seen from the crowd, made this parade just a great time for everyone!
We at Great Lakes Radio were also very glad to be a part of all the excitement! Walt and Mike from the Sunny Morning Show started our line up in the flashy Sunny.fm van and behind them was Joe Duckworth manning the WRUP van. Following behind the WRUP van was Adam Carpenter from the Outdoor Show with Todd Noordyk as co-captain in a camouflage Kawasaki Mule from Zambon’s in Marquette. Completing our crew was Eric Scott and Lane Dawson in the 103 FXD box truck!
A favorite float of mine was Lowell Larson, unlike the 4th of July Parades, they actually brought a pony to this one to complete their western posse theme. It was also great to see Maddie and Kenzie during the parade after they helped us hand out candy on our own floats during the 4th of July Parades!
The cost of the Pioneer Days celebration is pretty high, and the Negaunee Irontown Association can always use more help and support to make the Pioneer Days celebration just as great as, if not better than, it has been all these years.
