Republic – 08/09/2011– The Township of Republic drew a respectable showing from its citizens for their National Night Out gathering.
Meeting in the EMT/Fire Station, townspeople had the opportunity to eat hot dogs, share a dish to pass and home made desserts among neighbors and meet others for the first time.
Marquette County Sheriff Mike Lovelace was present to talk with townspeople and answer questions along with a Michigan State trooper from the Negaunee Post. Members of Republic’s EMS Squad were also present for questions from the public. This year the organizing committee changed the location from Republic’s downtown Munson Park in their attempt to make the event more accommodating to senior citizens and avoid possible inclement weather rescheduling.
